Blender Enables The Swift Creation of a City Within Minutes

This tutorial video demonstrates how to quickly create a city scene using Blender. To follow along, you’ll need Blender 3.2.x or a newer version that meets the Geometry Nodes prerequisites.

GumRoad offers a pair of free resources that take center stage in this tutorial:

Blender-OSM

Blender-OSM is an add-on for Blender that streamlines the process of importing real-world map data and generating a scene with minimal effort. Once you have installed the zip file, be sure to configure the Data directory in the add-on settings before proceeding. Although Blender-OSM can create building models, the quality of the results may be underwhelming. This is where Buildify comes in.

Buildify

Buildify is a geometry nodes-based system that uses pre-configured building blocks to create buildings procedurally. The creator has also developed a modular kit with a desert theme that can be incorporated into your project. Buildify can generate a building from a planer mesh, but its primary function is to serve as a building generator for Blender-OSM.

The video below demonstrates how Blender-OSM and Buildify can be used together to produce visually appealing city scenes in just a few minutes. If you are an Unreal Engine user, you may also want to explore Altermesh, which provides Geometry Nodes support for UE4/5.
